A Brief Guided Meditation for Better Memory

Attention is the most critical component of our best memory.

Our incredible brain subconsciously receives approximately 400 million pieces of input every second, two thousand of which we field on a conscious level. And we’re not even mentioning internal rumination or worry…which makes it impossible to connect with any information in the present moment at all!

Meditation is the brains most powerful attention-building workout.

Without the ability to direct and maintain our attention on the experiences and information we want to remember, we have no hope of encoding any new information through to our long-term memory!

So how do we improve attention?! Meditation is the brains most powerful attention-building workout. While meditation is generally perceived to be inaction of the body, it is one of the most effective practices for strengthening the mind.

Here are few ways meditation can improve your brain and memory:

·       Improves attention, focus, consciousness, memory, and learning.

·       Activates the prefrontal cortex, the happier part of the brain!

·       It has been shown to increase the power of brainwave patterns.

·       Improves communication and coordination between neurons.

·      Strengthens the circuitry of the brain, known as Neuroplasticity.

·       Reduces anxiety and depression.

·       Combats addiction.

Try infusing your memory and your life with a daily meditation practice.  Start each day with just a few minutes of meditation, and gradually increase the length of time you spend in stillness each morning.
